Carolyn Woods

Fellowship Group Co-Leader

BSc, SMBC Dip, Cert IV Tesol

Born and raised in the beautiful beach town of Kiama, Carolyn spent most of her time either in the ocean or playing sport. She learned what it is to follow Jesus through great Bible teaching and the modeling of older Christians (her mum included) at Kiama Anglican Church.

After finishing high school and a year on exchange in Norway, she studied Science at Canberra CAE and then worked in a medical laboratory. She began working at a Youth Refuge in Croydon in 1987 and whilst working there dipped her toe in part-time studies at SMBC, enjoying it so much that she came back the next year to study a full time Diploma in 1989/90.

She married Steven Woods in 1991 and worked part time as a children’s worker at Annandale Anglican and part time at World Vision. They moved to the Sutherland Shire in 1994 and began attending Jannali Anglican Church and became a very involved layperson for many years. Since the sudden passing of her husband 5 years ago she now works part time on staff as the Belong Ministry Leader looking after teams for welcoming, integration and care. She loves to read, play cards and board games, be in nature and laughing with friends.

God and His good news of forgiveness and life in Jesus has been the motivating force in her life. Her desire has always been to serve Him and His people.  She is loving being back at SMBC.
