Alison R

Fellowship Group Co-Leader

DipEd, DipMin, BTh

Alison grew up in Sydney and until she met Jesus in her early 20's had no clear idea as to her life's purpose - though, strangely enough, even before becoming a Christian she had an inkling that missions would be part of her story!

While teaching in the public school system (and loving it) God placed a strong desire in her to study His Word more intensely and prepare for sharing Him cross-culturally.  During the years that followed at Bible College, the Lord consistently drew Alison's attention to the Muslim world and a deep sense of His love and longing for them was birthed in her heart.

Alison worked for a time as a Family Support Worker with her local church, reaching out in a Housing Commission area to families that were under great stress.  The Lord then led her very clearly to go and live amongst the people of West Asia and be a bearer of His light. If she could summarise for you here 22 years of life in a country that was at first strange and yet became her home, amongst a people of totally different culture and language who became 'her people', the joys and sorrows, challenges and highlights of church planting... well, she would, but she can't.

In 2021 God showed Alison it was time to move back to Sydney and she is now happily serving with the Sydney Refugee Team sharing the love and hope of Jesus with forcibly displaced people, and also offering pastoral care, mentoring and spiritual direction to the cross-cultural workers in her organisation.  She has a strong desire to see them not just survive but thrive in their ministries across the globe.

Alison also loves to walk in nature, play table tennis, read, do creative writing, catch up with friends, laugh, do silly accents, travel, go on retreats with Jesus, and keep learning new things.
