Part
time study options are available for
either formal biblical/theological
academic qualifications or for those
simply wanting to mature in Christ,
know the Bible better and equip
themselves for ministry.
Part-Time
Hours
Part-time
students may enrol in up to 78 hours
of study each semester at degree,
diploma, or certificate level. The
SMBC Academic year consists of two
semesters each with 13 weeks of
lectures. Studies may be
undertaken at one of two levels:

Part-Time
Awards
Introductory
Certificate in Christian Studies (SMBC
Award)
Awarded to students who have
successfully completed (gained
satisfactory passes in exams and
assignments) a total of 208 hours of
study at Certificate level.
Introductory
Diploma in Christian Studies (SMBC
Award) Awarded to students who have
successfully completed a total of 312
hours of study at Certificate level.
A
student may hold only one
of the awards but not both.
Diploma
of Theology
The
Australian College of Theology imposes
no limit on the time taken to complete
the Diploma of Theology, which can be
completed totally by part-time study.
However, it is strongly recommended
that there is a full time component in
each student's course of study. It is
not usually possible to complete the
diploma through evening study.
Part-time diploma students enrol in no
more than two diploma and two
certificate subjects (78 hours
maximum) each semester. An interview
with the Diploma Advisor prior to
enrolment is strongly recommended.

Bachelor
of Theology & Master
of Divinity
The
Australian College of Theology allows
a student up to eight years to
complete either degree. These degrees
can be fully completed through
part-time study. However, it is
strongly recommended that there is a
full time component in each student's
course of study. It is not usually
possible to complete either degree
through evening study. (Full details

Degree
students may enrol in up to two
subjects each semester. Part time
Bachelor of Theology students may
complete a project in place of one of
their final subjects.

Associate
Degree in Theology
The
Australian College of Theology allows
a student up to six years to complete
an Associate Degree in Theology. This
award may be fully completed through
part-time study. However, it is
strongly recommended that there is a
full time component in each
student's course of study. It is not
usually possible to complete an
Associate Degree through evening study

Graduate
Diploma of Divinity
The
Australian College of Theology allows
part-time students up to four years to
complete this course, which consists
of eight semester length subjects.
Students may enrol in up to two
subjects each semester. It is strongly
recommended that part time Graduate
Diploma students arrange an interview
with the Degree Advisor before
registering, particularly for those
enrolling for the first time. (Full

Master
of Arts in Christian Studies,
Theology, or Ministry, &
Graduate
Diploma in Christian Studies,
Theology, or Ministry
These
courses may be completed by part-time
study - over six years for the Master
of Arts (MA) and three or four years
for the Graduate Diplomas. It is
strongly recommended that part time
Master of Arts and Graduate Diploma
Theology/Ministry students arrange an
interview with the Graduate Studies
Advisor before registering,
particularly for those enrolling for
the first time.

Subject
Availability & Lecture Times
Subjects
available for study are according to
the semester timetable. The
availability of elective subjects is
also dependent on minimum enrolments
being met. Several subjects are
available through evening lectures,
while others are offered during the
day.

Credit
Part
time students who choose, at a later
date, to enrol full time at the
College are granted full credit for
subjects passed successfully in the
respective courses. However, please
note that credit cannot be granted for
subjects that were completed under the
'no assessment' (attendance only)
category.
Part
time students considering full time
study may wish to consider completing
some SMBC Certificate in Biblical
Studies subjects in addition to their
degree and diploma study.
