Australian College of Theology Award

For students who have completed a degree in theology such as the Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Ministries, or Master of Divinity. It is primarily intended for those already involved in ministry and who wish to further develop their understanding of theology and its application to ministry.

These courses are well suited to those who are interested in studying the Master of Arts (Theology) but cannot complete the whole programme. They may also be a good fit for those on Sabbatical Leave, Long Service Leave, or those on Home Assignment.

The Graduate Diploma of Theology is a one year full-time course but it may also be studied on a part-time basis over a maximum period of four years. The Graduate Diploma of Theology requires the completion of 32 credit points (four Units) of 700 level (Master of Arts) Units. 16 credit points must come from Units in the fields of Language (LA), Old Testament (OT), New Testament (NT), Theology (TH), Church History (CH) or Philosophy and Ethics (PE). Students may complete an eight credit point, 8,000 word project in one of these fields.

The Graduate Certificate of Theology is a six-month full-time course but it may be studied on a part-time basis over a maximum period of two years. The Graduate Certificate of Theology requires the completion of 16 credit points two Units) of 700 level (Master of Arts) Units. 8 credit points must come from the fields of Language (LA), Old Testament (OT), New Testament (NT), Theology (TH), Church History (CH) or Philosophy and Ethics (PE).

Credit gained from the Graduate Diploma of Theology can be transferred automatically towards the Master of Arts (Ministry) or Master of Arts (Theology) courses within 10 years of completion. Likewise, credit gained from the Graduate Certificate of Theology can be transferred to the Graduate Diploma of Theology/Ministry or Master of Arts (Theology/Ministry).
