SMBC School of Cross-Cultural Mission
The School of Cross-Cultural Mission strengthens the global focus of the training offered at SMBC and responds to the increasingly multicultural context of ministry in Australia. In addition, it takes mission education beyond the regular SMBC programmes and into local churches.
The School fulfills its purposes in a number of ways:
-
Co-ordination and delivery of mission and evangelism subjects in the regular Diploma of Theology, Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity programmes of the College.
-
Significant involvement in the Master of Arts (Christian Studies) and Associate Degree of Theology programmes with specialisation in cross cultural studies.
-
Provision of mission related units in the Master of Arts (Theology) and Master of Arts (Ministry) programmes and supervision of mission related research in the Master of Theology programme.
-
Facilitating the interaction of SMBC students with visiting cross cultural workers through the weekly Ministry Matters hour and the Missionary-in-Residence programme.
-
Assisting local churches of all denominations to develop their mission education and global awareness programmes through a range of seminars and workshops.
- Making resources available to assist with mission awareness and education in the local church.
- Organising the annual 'Equipping Your Church For Global Impact' Conference at SMBC for mission enthusiasts involved in mission education in their local church.
- Maintaining active involvement with evangelical mission agencies and networks of agencies within Australia and around the world.
