LIBRARY

The college library provides a central and vital learning resource for our students. It is also available to the general public for reference and study Purposes.

During College Semester: 

Monday - Thursday   9:00 am - 10:30 pm
Friday 9:00 am - 4:45 pm
Saturday 9:30 am - 12:30 pm


During Semester Breaks:

Monday to Friday   9:30 am -4:30 pm


During College Holidays:

December / January

Monday to Friday   9:30 am - 4:30 pm

RESOURCES

The library focuses on biblical studies, missions, and theology. The collection includes:

  • Books (30,000 volumes)
  • Journals (150 subscriptions)
  • Electronic resources (BibleWorks, Operation World, atlases, and other Biblical software)
  • Online databases (ATLA, ATLAS, RPC)

Loan periods

Full- and part-time (degree & diploma (ACT)) 5 items 7 days
MA 7 items 21 days
Part-time cert. & audit 2 items 7 days

Renewals
All items except 'overnight' and '3 Day' may be renewed once in person or by phone if not reserved by another students.

Overdue fines
to ensure resources are available, please return items by the due date. Overdue items incur fines:

$0.50/day items from the general collection
$1.00/day 'overnight' & '3 Day' items

Should a fine accumulate to $3.50, borrowing is suspended until items are returned and fines are paid.

TUTORIALS AND TOURS

Tutorials and tours are held at the beginning of each semester in group sessions, though individual bookings may be made at any time via email library@smbc.com.au.

Electronic copies of material relating to the tutorials is on the intranet.

Current available tutorials include advanced catalogue searching, electronic/journal research and BibleWorks.

RULES

Returns
Returned books are put in the "Returns" box at the left of the doors when you enter.

Shelving
With the exception of Closed Reserved items and journals, do not shelve books when you have finished with them - place them on one of the trolleys at the top of the stairs, and the library staff will put them away.

Food & drink
With the exception of bottled water, food or drink cannot be brought into the library under any circumstances.

Bags
Bags, including laptop bags, cannot be brought into the library.

Personal Items
The library is not responsible for unattended items. Items cannot be left in the library overnight - otherwise they will be placed inthe shelving area outside the entrance.

Overhead Transparencies
Do not put overhead transparency sheets into the photocopiers without consulting staff the first time. Also, do not bring your own transparency sheets - our photocopiers are compatible with the brand we offer in the library.

Noise
Noise levels are to be kept to a minimum. Mobile phones are to be on silent, and conversations should be moved outside the library. The photocopy room is not soundproof.
