David
David
completed a Master of Divinity in 2003 and is
involved in Youth Work in Sydney's west. He says
the results of his study at SMBC are that he ‘understands
the Bible better, has access to more resources for
ministry, and has developed skills in preaching
and biblical theology’ which make him more
effective in ministry. Of his time at College he
says: ‘it seemed to
accelerate my growth as a Christian, in both
godliness and relationships.’
Chandra
Chandra
completed her Diploma of Theology in 2003 and is
now working in Ecuador doing Rural Health Care.
She said her time at College has helped her to ‘apply
God's words to life on the (mission)
field...live a life which will demonstrate God's
love without being culturally incorrect...put God
first in everything...and apply and teach God's
Word to people in a different culture’.
John
and Denise
John
and Denise are working in Thailand. They
write: ‘As we face the
ongoing challenge of making Christ known among the
Thai in ways that are both Biblically sound and
culturally relevant, we constantly thank God for
the excellent grounding, solid framework and very
practical ‘toolbox’ He has equipped us with
through our time at SMBC.’
Philip
Philip
completed a Bachelor of Theology and is in the
process of completing his Masters. Currently,
Philip is the Taiwan Field Director and with Irene
his wife, are now working in Taiwan. Philip
writes: I went to SMBC with a desire to serve
God on the mission field, but with little
understanding of what was involved in Christian
Ministry. SMBC gave me the skills to understand,
preach and teach God's word effectively. I also
had the opportunity to meet many missionaries and
to think through issues related to living and
serving in another culture. It was also a
wonderful time of personal growth, learning from
the godly lives of the lecturers and other
students.
Dale
Dale
studied the Bachelor of Ministry degree in 1998
and says ‘The clear
biblical theology taught at SMBC has been
invaluable. Many branches of the church in Asia
are drinking in the message from teachers who
proclaim health and wealth for their followers.
Knowing the Scriptures well has enabled me to
encourage believers into good patterns of biblical
thinking.’
Josh
Josh
completed a Bachelor of Theology in 2004 and is
now working in Parish Ministry in Scotland. He
says ‘ SMBC has
equipped me in that it provided me with the
necessary theological tools to critique and engage
our culture without compromising the gospel.’ He
also says ‘At SMBC, the theology of the Cross is
so clearly evident and I am grateful for the
grounding in the gospel I received.’
Paul
and Anthea
Paul
and Anthea completed the Bachelor of
Ministries at SMBC in 2003. They are now serving
the Lord in the Red Sea region .Paul said that
three things come to mind when reflecting on there
time at SMBC. He said ‘(i)
being taught the truth of God's word in such
depth and clarity has given us a firm foundation
from which we can share with others
(ii) God's desire to be known by all
nations still inspires and encourages us- exposure
[at SMBC] to the whole world of mission through
teaching and personal contact with fellow workers
also enables us to draw on the experience of
others and (iii) Living and studying in close
quarters with people of different personalities
and denominational backgrounds has been good
preparation for working closely with others on the
field.’
Kelly
Kelly
completed her Master of Divinity in 2004 and is
working with AFES in Newcastle. She says that her
studies helped her ‘to
have a better understanding of the Bible, but even
more they helped me to understand how to read and
teach the Bible, how to actually approach a
passage — how to understand, with God's
Spirit, what God is saying in His Word, and not
just what I want him to be saying!...My time at
College also gave me the experience of living in a
Christian community, living in real relationships
with my brothers and sisters in Christ.’
Deb
Deb
completed her Bachelor of Theology in 2004 and is
involved in ministry to children and young people
in country NSW. She says: ‘community
living taught me valuable lessons about
interacting with Christians from all walks of
life. Whilst at College I learnt that God's word
is living and active, and that He is powerful to
save, despite my many weaknesses and faults. Of
course I also learnt many practical skills
necessary for teaching the Bible, through
lectures, discussions, and mission. But I think
more importantly, I learnt that it is God who does
the work in people while I have the privilege
merely to be an instrument in His hands.’
