Introduction
The
Associate
Degree in Theology is a two year course
accredited with the Australian College of Theology.
It is offered through the SMBC School of Cross
Cultural Mission and aims to provide students with a
foundation in Bible and theology as well as
providing the opportunity to focus on mission
studies.
The
purpose of the Associate Degree in Theology with
missions specialisation is to prepare students for
gospel ministry in cross cultural settings within
Australia and overseas.
It
is open as a first degree to students who have
achieved a Universities Admission Index (UAI) score
of at least 75.00 (or equivalent). However, where an
applicant has not completed the HSC, mature age
entry will be favourably considered.
The
Associate Degree in Theology requires the completion
of 64 credit points of study at undergraduate degree
level and may also be studied on a part time basis
over a maximum period of six years. However, it is
strongly recommended that there be a full time
component in each student's course of study.
Full
time students study the Associate Degree in Theology
and the SMBC Certificate
in Biblical studies concurrently over two years.
To qualify for the Certificate in Biblical Studies,
full time students complete 12 core subjects.
Subject descriptions are contained in the Appendix.
Satisfactory participation in College community life
is also a requirement for graduation.
